Weekly update #21

Dear parents and carers Well, we’re so very nearly there…. Tuesday marks the return of the first section to face to face Scouting since March with Cubs Bubble 1 meeting at Jock’s Pitch on the East Cliff above the Warren. We had a bit of a wobble in the week with the Government’s change to the rules and sizes of groups, however, The Scouts quickly received clarification from the National Youth Agency confirming we were exempt as a voluntary service offering after school clubs for children with a ‘Covid Secure’ approach to returning to face to face activities. Great news! Just a few quick reminders from me: You’re going to get (or already have had!) quite a few emails from […]

Weekly update #20

No longer a member or leaving us? Please see the bold text near the bottom. Dear parents and carers I hope the return to school has been successful and everything is settling down. I’m really pleased to finally be able to say we’re back! Well, at least in a limited fashion. Cubs will be the first section to return to face to face sessions, beginning on 15th September. Due to the size of the Cub pack and number of leaders we have, along with the required ratios, we have to split the Cubs into three groups – so will be meeting every three weeks. Cub parents will receive an email invite from Parent Portal (MyScout) for the week that is […]

Weekly update #19

Dear parents and carers I hope you have all had a good August and enjoyed any holiday you’ve been able to have. I’m amazed at how fast it’s all gone and we’re just about at September once again. As I said in the last few weekly emails of July, we’re getting ready to get back to it. As always, things have changed with the guidance we have to follow since I last wrote to you and we are eagerly awaiting an announcement of changes on 3rd September which, I hope, will see us being able to return to meeting at the hall. This does present a logistical challenge as we can still only meet with bubbles of 15 at a […]

Weekly update #18

Dear parents and carers Another week passes and this will be my last Monday email until September. I hope they’ve been useful to you. Thank you to everyone that joined the Facebook meeting last Thursday and a big thank you to everyone that messaged me afterwards with ideas, thoughts and comments – they have been really useful in supporting our plans to get back to face to face Scouting. If you want to watch the recording, it is still on our Facebook group page, ignore the first few minutes of me trying to work out if anyone was there or if I was talking to myself! As I said in the meeting, the go to web page for everyone to […]

Weekly update #17

Dear parents and carers Hope this message finds you all well. Quick email from me this week. Most importantly, a reminder that I will be hosting a parents/carers information Facebook Live session on Thursday 23rd July at 7pm on our Facebook Page. Please do try to tune in (or watch the recording) as I will be going through the key parts of our risk assessment and plans so far for getting everyone back together safely. This meeting is really important for the planning process as it is a chance for you to share your thoughts, questions and concerns so we can make sure we’re addressing everything. The Q&A will be available throughout and the team will be on hand to answer what […]

Weekly update #16

Dear parents & carers Thank you so much to everyone that has given feedback on last week’s update, from completing the quick questionnaire to messages of support and understanding. Your help has been invaluable in our ongoing work to bring everyone back together safely. I am still working through emails, so if you’ve sent me a message and haven’t yet had a reply, please do bear with me, I haven’t forgotten about you and will get back to you. Also, the questionnaire is still open if you haven’t yet responded: https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=3vS0pt9ehkm7YqND8ATIOU1T7fW_vRdEpbaTst5YIHpUOEhWVDMwQ05GUE03RVFPQThVR0NOUVNKUC4u   That’s actually what I need to talk about this week – communication. Getting us all back safely is as much about communicating as it is about controlling the […]
